This masterful work was done at a time when the artist was in his nineties. It is technically a difficult piece of art that only greats, such as Sargent or David had mastered. The real subject here however, is not only the portrait, but the light and how it penetrates softly with every stroke; the wholeness of this amazing piece of art.
